Great Earthquakes
Topic: Prophecy News

Luke 21:11   "And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven."

China says up to 5,000 killed in quake in one county (5/12/08)

"BEIJING (Reuters) - An estimated 3,000 to 5,000 people were killed in one county of China's Sichuan province alone after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit the region, Xinhua news agency said, citing the local government.

As many as 10,000 in Sichuan's Beichuan county were feared injured, the report said.

(Reporting by Guo Shipeng, writing by Lindsay Beck)"

The USGS Reporting Agency claims that the numbers of earthquakes are not increasing but due to more monitoring stations it appears that way.  That may be true but as the Olivet Discourse likens the signs to birth pangs of a pregnant woman, as the pangs increase they also become more intense and as such so will earthquakes.  This seems to be the case with the intense earthquakes in 2007 (over 8.0) skyrocketing to 4 vs. an average of 1 per year since 1900.

Knowldege Will Increase
Topic: Prophecy News

Daniel 12:4 - "But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, [even] to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased."

Here is an article by an AT&T Exec. claiming that the internet may be too clogged to use by 2010.  The net has been caused by the knowledge explosion and it also perpetuates it because of the networking that occurs accelarating research and development.  Many of the most significant discoveries and inventions have occurred since the 1900's, i.e., electicity, laser, computer, internal combustin engine, jet engine and on and on!  The context of Daniel is that knowledge will increase just before Jesus' return.

AT&T: Internet to hit full capacity by 2010

U.S. telecommunications giant AT&T has claimed that, without investment, the Internet's current network architecture will reach the limits of its capacity by 2010.

Speaking at a Westminster eForum on Web 2.0 this week in London, Jim Cicconi, vice president of legislative affairs for AT&T, warned that the current systems that constitute the Internet will not be able to cope with the increasing amounts of video and user-generated content being uploaded.

"The surge in online content is at the center of the most dramatic changes affecting the Internet today," he said. "In three years' time, 20 typical households will generate more traffic than the entire Internet today."

Cicconi, who was speaking at the event as part of a wider series of meetings with U.K. government officials, said that at least $55 billion worth of investment was needed in new infrastructure in the next three years in the U.S. alone, with the figure rising to $130 billion to improve the network worldwide. "We are going to be butting up against the physical capacity of the Internet by 2010," he said.

He claimed that the "unprecedented new wave of broadband traffic" would increase 50-fold by 2015 and that AT&T is investing $19 billion to maintain its network and upgrade its backbone network.

Cicconi added that more demand for high-definition video will put an increasing strain on the Internet infrastructure. "Eight hours of video is loaded onto YouTube every minute. Everything will become HD very soon, and HD is 7 to 10 times more bandwidth-hungry than typical video today. Video will be 80 percent of all traffic by 2010, up from 30 percent today," he said.

The AT&T executive pointed out that the Internet exists, thanks to the infrastructure provided by a group of mostly private companies. "There is nothing magic or ethereal about the Internet--it is no more ethereal than the highway system. It is not created by an act of God, but upgraded and maintained by private investors," he said........

"I think people agree why the Internet is successful. My personal view is that government has widely chosen to...keep a light touch and let innovators develop it," he said. "The reason I resist using the term 'Net neutrality' is that I don't think government intervention is the right way to do this kind of thing. I don't think government can anticipate these kinds of technical problems. Right now, I think Net neutrality is a solution in search of a problem."............

"However well-intentioned, regulatory restraints can inefficiently skew investment, delay innovation, and diminish consumer welfare, and there is reason to believe that the kinds of broad marketplace restrictions proposed in the name of 'neutrality' would do just that, with respect to the Internet," the U.S. Department of Justice said in a statement last year................

Happy Birthday Israel
Topic: Prophecy News

In Ezekiel 36:24 God said, "For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land."

Courtesey of the Lekarev Report -  http://www.lekarev.ccsend.com

Happy Birthday, Israel!

Israel's 60th anniversary commenced Wednesday evening with a formal torch-lighting ceremony on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. The celebrations were held under tight security, due to warnings of  terror organizations' plans to carry out attacks.

Throughout the country, fireworks lit the night skies as families and communities celebrated 60 years of the restored Jewish homeland.

At 9:30 this morning, President Shimon Peres hosted a reception at his residence for past and present IDF commanders and in his speech, spoke of Israel as the 'modern miracle'; in fact, he called Israel one of the 'greatest miracles humanity has experienced.'

Peres later presented 120 outstanding soldiers with merit certificates, and representatives of the diplomatic corps arrived to congratulate the president in honor of Independence Day.

Speaking during the ceremony honoring the outstanding soldiers, Peres said that "according to cold logic, Israel could not have been established and could not have defended itself. How did this happen? What is the real secret? You are part of this secret. It's called 'the outstanding ones.' Israel was victorious because its sons excelled, above and beyond what is accepted. Excellence is proof that we can overcome a sea of hatred and continue to hope."

Coincidentally I just turned 60 last month and have always felt having been born in the same year as Israel, God had some plan for me!  Fulfillment of Ek. 36 is truly a miracle of God and seems to point towards the final count down of civilization as described in the Bible!

Increase in Natural Disasters
Topic: Prophecy News

In Luke 21:25, Jesus said:

"And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;"

The sea and waves roaring may be the results of the cyclone that hit Myanmar (Burma) this weekend!  Here are the latest statistics of the tradegy.

Myanmar cyclone toll climbs to nearly 22,500

By Aung Hla Tun

YANGON (Reuters) - Myanmar's military government raised its death toll from Cyclone Nargis on Tuesday to nearly 22,500 with a further 41,000 missing, nearly all of them from a massive storm surge that swept into the Irrawaddy delta.

The United Nations' World Food Program began doling out emergency rice in Yangon and the first batch of more than $10 million worth of foreign aid arrived from Thailand on Tuesday, but a lack of specialized equipment slowed distribution.

Despite the magnitude of the disaster -- the most devastating cyclone to hit Asia since 1991, when 143,000 people died in Bangladesh -- France said the ruling generals were still placing too many conditions on aid.

Latest Prophetic News
Mood:  on fire
Topic: Prophecy News

This is my first post in my new blog!  Now that I am retired (other than some part-time engineering or web page development) I hope to keep my readers up on what is happening in the prophetic portions of the Word!  Since prophecy can be found in at least 25% of the Word and some say as much as 50% is there, I think things in the news are showing God's Will being played out in the time known as the End Times!  And we may be nearing the time of Jacob's Trouble or the last seven years (tribulation period) before Jesus returns and sets up His 1,000 year rein on earth.

So come back for more and let's study God's prophetic Word in today's newspapers!
